After lots of rumors and leaks, Xiaomi has finally launched the flagship Xiaomi MI 5 flagship in an event today in China. The company also posted the launch details of the MI 5 on their weibo account. The device comes with new features and runs on the MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and runs on the latest Snapdragon 820 processor. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi MI 5 comes with a 5.15-inch Full HD display with curved glass, 95% of the NTSC color gamut, 600 nits brightness and 1920×1080 pixels resolution. It is powered by the 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It has two variants: first with 3GB LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB/64GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage and the second one comes with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7 OS out of the box.

It supports Dual-SIM and features a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX298 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 4-axis OIS and 4K video recording. it also has a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with 2um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens features. The device also has a Fingerprint scanner available on the home button and also has a Infrared sensor. It comes with a 3,000mAh in-built battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 feature.

The high-end 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 SoC variant with same 3GB RAM is priced at 2299 Yuan (around $351). The exclusive Mi 5 Pro ceramic back edition variant is priced at 2699 Yuan (around $413) that has 4GB RAM, 128GB storage and 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 SoC.
