After Google launched the new Android 6.0 marshmallow OS, we saw a number of smartphone companies announcing the Android Marshmallow update programs. So far Motorola, Sony, Huawei and HTC has announced their Android Marshmallow upgrade plans. We also saw an internal leaked document from Samsung revealing the Marshmallow upgrade plans of Samsung. Now, ASUS has also announced their plans for Android Marshmallow update for number of ASUS devices.

In an official ASUS forum thread, ASUS has published the name of devices that will receive the Marshmallow in the upcoming days. The upgrade plan includes following devices:

  • PadFoneS (PF500KL)
  • ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML/ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Deluxe / Special Edition (ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG/ZE500KL/ZE550KL/ZE600KL/ZE601KL)
  • ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)

There are 5 Zenfone devices in the list and no information if ASUS will add any other devices in this list or not in the future. Devices like ASUS Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 are not in the update list and we can expect that ASUS will announce the Android M for these devices too.

Yesterday, we saw the unannounced ASUS Zenfone Zoom getting certification from the Chinese certification authority TENAA revealing the images of the device and specs. ASUS is holding an event on 1 December where they will announce the ASUS Zenfone Zoom that comes with top-end specifications. The Zenfone Zoom variant Z00XSB comes with a 5.5-inches IPS display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution, a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of inbuilt storage capacity, 32GB expandable storage capacity, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED Real Tone flash with a 5-megapixel front facing camera, TD-LTE etc connectivity options.
