Sony’s Xperia Z2 and Z3 Series Smartphones Will Receive Android Lollipop 5.1.1 update Soon

Confirmation, that android 5.1.1 update will be available soon, has been given by Sony for the users of Z2 and Z3 series devices.
Android Lollipop 5.1.1 update for the series Xperia Z2 and Z3 had been certified few days ago and it will be rolling out later this month.

The certification has been granted by the PTCRB, which is an organisation that authorizes the telecommunication bands which are used by the devices in North America.

But this does not mean that the update will be seeded directly to the devices. Various tests will have to be conducted by Sony on the update before it is rolled out for public.

The devices that are going to receive the update will be Xperia Z2 tablet, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 dual, Xperia Z3 tablet compact as well as Xperia Z3 cmpact.

The series model numbers for these ones are Xperia Z2 D6502, Xperia D6503, Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521.
For Z3 series, the series model numbers are Xperia Z3 D6653, Z3 Dual D6633, Z3 compact D5803 and D5B33. SGP621 and SGP641 is for Z3 tablet compact.

As far as the features of the update are concerned, it is coming with various improvements and enhancements which has been designed for the improvement in overall performance of these devices. The changes will also include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options in the notification menu and also there will be new icons for the settings menu.

The bugs and glitches which cause the apps to crash and freeze will be eliminated through this update. According to Android standard, the issue which causes the device to restart randomly will also be fixed up by this update.

In addition to all this, due to this update overheating of the device will be prevented as well as the battery life of the devices will be improved.

The thing that has not yet been confirmed is that will this OS upgrade be able to solve the issue of memory leak. According to the reports, increased RAM usage have been reported due to this problem even when the users are not running any of the apps on their devices.
