ARM technologies to Provide Efficient Batteries for Smart Watches

The trend in wearable technology is growing especially just after the recent launch of Apple watch. The battery life is still a significant drawback in these devices because of limitation imposed by the small size.

The battery manufacturers and the chip making companies are trying to explore the solution to increase the battery life of the wearable devices as the current generation of smart watches with touchable screens does not last for more than a day.

The ARM Holdings has acquired two companies Wicentric and Sunrise Micro devices that will be focusing on development of low-power wireless communications for the our hungry devices like wearables.

The Sunrise Micro devices holes and intellectual property office sub one volt Bluetooth radio. As it operates below 1 V it lets the radio to run for a pretty long time period even normal and average batteries. Whereas on the other hand Wicentric provides Bluetooth Smart software solutions that run on these sub 1 V radios and reduce the power consumption even further. These two companies claim that the technology can extend the battery life by as long as 60% for wearables.
