Sony’s CES 2017 event set for 4 January, G3121 and 3112 Xperia phones expected with Snapdragon 820 SoC

Sony has officially announced its plans for the CES 2017 event taking place at Las Vegas Convention Center at sharp 5:00 pm PST. The invites for the press conference doesn’t reveals anything about what products we can expect at the official event but according to the past leaks we can expect two Xperia series devices powered by Snapdragon 820 processor to launch in the official event. The company is also expected to launch a new PlayStation product in the event.

The live streaming from the event will also be available online. The company is expected to launch two new smartphones having the model numbers G3121 and 3112 that were spotted listed at a Russian certification site. There was no information available about these two Xperia series device but according to the rumors, the company may launch these two devices with Snapdragon 820 and other high end specifications. These two model numbers are very near to the Xperia XA smartphone that is having the model number F311x.

So we can expect the company to launch two new flagships for the year 2017 next month having the model numbers G3121 and 3112. The two variants powered by Snapdragon 820 are expected to be featuring a 5.2-inch and a 5.5-inch displays, respectively. Nothing of the above rumored specifications have been confirmed by the company so take it with a pinch of salt.

The company latest flagship is the Xperia XZ that come with a 5.2-inch Triluminos Display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. It is powered by the 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 820 14nm processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB internal storage with expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card. It comes with Dual SIM support and runs on the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS out of the box.

It comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera with Exmos RS sensor, 5-axis stabilization, 4K video recording, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, Predictive Hybrid AF and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with 1/3” Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens and 1080p video recording. It is backed up by a 2900 mAh Battery with Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology. It measures 146 x 72 x 8.1 mm and weights 161 grams and comes with connectivity options like 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ GLONASS, NFC and USB Type-C. A fingerprint sensor is available on the power button and is IP65/IP68 certified which means it is water resistant.
