Motorola has recently pushed the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to number of its devices. Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen received the Marshmallow 6.0 few days back, Moto X Play also got the Marshmallow 6.0.1 update few days back and Moto E 2nd gen receiving it in February. The Droid Turbo 2 users in the US also got the Marshmallow update on Verizon. Now, its the time for the 3rd Gen Motorola Moto G devices. The Moto G 3rd Gen received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in January this year that brings features like revamped app permissions, Google Now on Tap feature, Android Pay support, new fingerprint APIs for developers and Google’s security patches as well. This new update comes the same Marshmallow build but with some new features and enhancements for the Moto G 3rd Gen. It brings Google’s monthly security update, Android security update for March and adds Unicode 8.0 emoji support for the Moto G 3rd Gen. This update also comes with some stability improvements and camera related improvements.

This update is available OTA and if you haven’t received the notifications yet, you can check for the updates manually by going to Settings>About Phone>System Updates. This update comes with new build 24.61.55 and is of 371.4MB in size. So, frst connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and make sure that you have 50% battery available before you update the device or just connect your device to the charger to start the update process.

To recall, the Moto G 3rd Gen was launched with features like a 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. It is powered by the 1.4 GHz quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor with Adreno 306 GPU. It comes with two variants: 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage / 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage with expandable storage up to 32GB with microSD card.

It features a 13MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, IR filter, f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording with a 5MP front-facing camera with 72-degree wide viewing angle. It has 2,470 mAh battery and connectivity options includes 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
