iOS 9.1 Now Rolling out to Apple Devices

Apple has started seeding the new iOS 9.1 update to all the compatible iOS devices making it the first major update to the Apple devices after the launch of iOS 9 in September. The new update comes with new emoji characters, Live Photos improvements and a number of bug fixes. Some of the new additions in the iOS 9.1 includes 150 new emojis and bringing the middle finger with other new characters.

This update is of 26.4 MB size and the new update full change log is available below:

  • Live Photos now intelligently senses when you raise or lower your iPhone, so that Live Photos will automatically not record these movements
  • Over 150 new emoji characters with full support for Unicode 7.0 and 8.0 emojis
  • Improved stability including CarPlay, Music, Photos, Safari, and Search
  • Improved performance while in Multitasking UI
  • Fixes an issue that could cause Calendar to become unresponsive in Month view
  • Fixes an issue that prevented Game Center from launching for some users
  • Resolves an issue that zoomed the content of some apps
  • Resolves an issue that could cause an incorrect unread mail count for POP mail accounts
  • Fixes an issue that prevented users from removing recent contacts from new mail or messages
  • Fixes an issue that caused some messages to not appear in Mail search results
  • Resolves an issue that left a gray bar in the body of an Audio Message
  • Fixes an issue that caused activation errors on some carriers
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from updating from the App Store

iOS 9.1 update is the 3rd update to the iOS 9 OS till now since its launch as apple has release iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2 previously. This new update also comes with Xcode 7.1 and the tvOS golden master (GM) which means the final version to be released with the launch of Apple TV next week.

The new update also brings a new option in the messages option called “Show contact photos” that helps users to disable/enable photos for contacts. This new update brings new compatibility updates for the fourth-generation Apple TV and the iPad Pro.

This update is available over the air(OTA) to the compatible iOS 9 devices. To manually check for the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update to update your phone to new iOS 9.1.
