AmanGoogle has officially announced that the new Android OS will be called as Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Android 6.0 Marshmallow Developer preview is now available for Nexus devices like Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and the Nexus Player. Google also confirmed this on their official blog post today.
Google has reportedly placed an Android M Mascot near the Android HQ building in California. Android M was unveiled by Google in the Google’s annual I/O conference in May. The developer preview images for nexus devices are available on Developer preview site. This will be the final Android 6.0 SDK and public Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be launched later this fall.
The Android developers can also upload their Android 6.0 Marshmallow compatible Apps to the Google Play Store. Google has also updated the Android Support Library to version 23 where it will be easier to integrate many of the new platform APIs, such as permissions and fingerprint support, in a compatible manner.
The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow will introduce new features and performance improvements for all supported devices. RAM usage will be lowered, new security authentications are introduced, a new app permission manager will be available that will provide support for the USB Type-C connectors, Android Pay, Tap on Now, new app permissions model, built-in support for fingerprint scanner etc features will also be available.
Google will launch this new Android OS later this year with two new Nexus devices, out of which one will be manufactured by LG.
